Copper & Cask Announces Small Batch Series No. 016 Bourbon and No. 015 (21-Year Cigar Blend Whiskey)

Independent bottler Copper & Cask has announced two new additions to its Small Batch Series — No. 015 and No. 016—both limited releases bottled at cask strength and blended from carefully selected barrels.

Small Batch Series No. 015 – 21 Year Canadian “Cigar Blend”

Small Batch Series No. 015 is a 21-year blended Canadian whisky distilled and matured in Alberta, Canada before finishing in Armagnac and Tawny Port casks.

The blend was composed of 17 barrels aged for more than two decades in original oak before spending approximately six months finishing in the secondary casks. It is bottled at 157.8 proof (78.9% ABV).

The nose shows fresh strawberries and cotton candy, while the palate brings butterscotch and vanilla bean layered with currants and dried cranberries. The finish is described as long and layered, with notes of raspberry jam, raisins, and cocoa powder.

Limited release: 3,000 bottles.

Small Batch Series No. 016 – 11 Year Straight Bourbon

Small Batch Series No. 016 is an 11-year straight bourbon blended from 24 high-rye barrels (60/36/4 mashbill) originally matured in Indiana before being selected and blended in Rhode Island.

Bottled at 116.2 proof (58.1% ABV), the bourbon opens with aromas of cherry pie and chocolate truffles, followed by flavors of brown sugar and salted caramel that develop into mocha and dates. The finish is described as long and complex, with notes of milk chocolate, crème brûlée, and espresso.

Limited release: 2,700 bottles.

Why This Matters

Copper & Cask’s Small Batch Series highlights the company’s blending and finishing program, which focuses on marrying standout barrels into limited cask-strength releases rather than maintaining a core lineup, which has been ongoing since 2023 when their focused moved from single barrels to blending and micro-batches.

“…We also believe that sometimes the whole can be greater than the sum of the parts. Blending and micro-batching was always part of the plan, and it is key to us realizing our ultimate vision.”

– Terry Lozoff, Spirits Director at Latitude Beverage, the creators of Copper & Cask Spirits (via PR News)

Release No. 016 represents a classic high-rye Indiana bourbon profile presented as a carefully blended small batch, while No. 015 pushes further into experimental territory with a 21-year Canadian whisky finished in Armagnac and Tawny Port casks and bottled at an unusually high 157.8 proof. Together, the two releases reflect the range of the program—from traditional bourbon blending to highly finished, limited international whiskies.

About Copper & Cask

Founded in 2021, Copper & Cask is an independent whiskey bottler focused on sourcing, finishing, and blending rare barrels into limited cask-strength releases. Rather than maintaining a flagship product, the company concentrates on single barrels, micro-batches, and small-batch whiskeys produced in limited quantities.

While much of its whiskey is distilled in Indiana, Copper & Cask sources from multiple regions — including Kentucky, Canada, and beyond — and often ages barrels in different climates such as Kentucky, Texas, and Florida to develop unique maturation profiles.

The company’s blending and finishing program is led by Barrel Master Stephen Corrigan, who joined the brand in 2022 with more than 15 years of experience in distillation, aging, and blending. Corrigan previously helped launch a craft distillery in Washington, D.C., where his finishing and blending program earned multiple accolades, including two Best in Class medals (Small Batch Series 01 & 02) at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
