E. S. Pope started writing seriously in the fall of 2018 on a bet he had a least one good story in him, and in the process, discovered a passion.

His true writing journey started many years before when the works of the likes of Tolkien, Nix, and Rowling first captured his imagination as a youth. He consumed hundreds more stories through those years, finding an escape from reality in these fictional worlds.

Pope realized he could create his own worlds when wrote the first (now defunct) chapter of his fantasy WIP, currently called “Requiem of a Dead God” on that 2018 dare. He hasn’t stopped writing since.

Pope has published two short stories in two anthologies, “The Cure for Chaos: Horrors from Hospitals and Psych Wards” and “Sirens at Midnight: Terrifying Tales of First Responders”, as well as had a flash fiction chosen for the “Anthology of Very Short Stories: Volume 1” related to the twitter trend of #vss365 . He is currently compiling his own speculative fiction/horror short story collection related to his hospice experiences and continuing his work on “Requiem of a Dead God”.

In his other life, E. S. Pope works as a hospice (board certified) music therapist where he encounters unique experiences of life and death daily. Many of his stories and characters experiencing death and dying originate in his hospice work. He currently lives in Connecticut with his wife Jessica, daughters Elah and Eleanor, and his two dogs Lyric and Apache.
